Based on CDC data, this site is useful for medical students and residents doing

epidemiologic research.  Presented are the 10 leading causes of death in the United States

between 1993 and 1995. Many of the cells in the table serve as links to even more

Anatomia Universa On the Internet

The Information Commons Production Services, based in the University of Iowa's Hardin

Library for Health Sciences, has made online viewing of rare anatomical illustrations more

interactive with the Web release of part two of "Anatomia Universa," a book by noted

anatomist Paolo Mascagni. Published as a series between 1823 and 1832, the physical

"Anatomia  Universa" is a comprehensive work of anatomy lacking only microscopic

anatomy, histology and the lymphatics of the skin. The beautifully executed plates depict

the anatomical and skeletal structure of the human body in great detail.

CliniWeb

CliniWeb is an index and table of contents to clinical information on the World Wide Web. It

now allows search terms to be entered in five different languages (English, German,

French, Spanish, Portuguese) and has direct links to MEDLINE searches via the PubMed

Electronic Journals in Education

Supported by AERA, this site only lists links to electronic journals that are

scholarly, peer-reviewed, full text and accessible without cost. Excluded are professional

magazines that are not refereed, and commercial journals that may only allow access to a

very limited number of articles as an enticement to buy.

E-Medicine On-Line Textbooks

This site, currently under development, provide a large selection of on-line reference

material for physicians and students. Each reference volume has 4 levels of physician

peer-review. Users are invited to submit their own materials for inclusion.  The topic list is

comprehensive.  IN association with Gold Standard Multimedia.

MEDCAL: Registration and Evaluation Database of Educational Software

A database of educational software in medicine, odontology and veterinary medicine

developed and maintained by the Swedish Council for the Renewal of Higher Education. 

The database is growing and is searchable by keyword, subject and text fields.

Medical Matrix is a free directory of selected medical sites on the Internet. Each site listing

has been evaluated by reviewers from a panel of  physicians and medical librarians.

Medical Matrix lists only those sites that meet criteria for information quality and site

usability, with an emphasis on usefulness to healthcare practitioners.  There are no fees to

egister or use the Medical Matrix database, and the information you provide will not be sold

or redistributed. The aggregate demographic information will allow us to verify the types of

professionals who use Medical Matrix, and to refine and improve our content.

National Center for Health Statistics

NCHS data systems include data on vital events as well as information on health

status, lifestyle and exposure to unhealthy influences, the onset and diagnosis of

A comprehensive resource for information related to Evidence-Based Medicine.  This

database is searchable and contains information and links about searching, appraising and

On-Line Dictionary of Mental Health

Sponsored by The Centre for Psychotherapeutic Studies, this resource and research tool was compiled by

Internet mental health resource users for Internet mental health resource users, covering

all of the disciplines contributing to our understanding of mental health.  As an exercise in

democratic psychiatry there are no definitions here; instead there are links to many sites offering different

viewpoints on issues in mental health.
