National Guideline Clearinghouse

The National Guideline Clearinghouse is a public resource for evidence-based clinical

practice guidelines. NGC is sponsored by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

 (AHRQ/ formerly AHCPR) in partnership with the American Medical Association and the

American Association of Health Plans.  Many practitioner resources are available through

A comprehensive resource for information related to Evidence-Based Medicine.  This

database is searchable and contains information and links about searching, appraising and

 implementing scientific information, as well as lists of journals, organizations, databases

Reading the Medical Literature

This site consists of a series of lessons and practice sessions designed to improve

students' skills in locating, selecting, and critically reviewing  primary care literature,

improve students' skills for keeping abreast of new medical information, and prepare

students to participate in medical journal clubs at their places of training or practice. The

site contains self-tests, resources and links to other sources.

Seven Alternatives to Evidence-based Medicine

Clinical decisions should, as far as possible, be evidence based. So runs the current

clinical dogma. Physicians, surgeons, nurses are doing it; soon even the lawyers will be
